“The cover of the upcoming issue of Vogue magazine will be shot by a black photographer, reportedly for the first time in the publication’s 126-year history.
According to HuffPost, singer Beyoncé reportedly has unprecedented control over the cover of next month’s issue and will be featured through the magazine in photos and long-form captions, which she penned herself.
Sources familiar with the agreement between the magazine and Beyoncé regarding the upcoming issue told HuffPost the star reportedly selected 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell to shoot the cover.
“I depict black people and people of color in a really real and pure way,” Mitchell, who has shot for Marc Jacobs and Givenchy campaigns, told The New York Times last year. “There is an honest gaze to my photos.”
